  • Woodstock Opera House 121 Van Buren Street Woodstock, IL 60098 (map)

Join us for A Live Theatre Broadcast of Carmen Suite / Petrushka (Bolshoi Ballet). Music by Georges Bizet, Rodion Shchedrin and Igor Stravinsky. Choreography by Alberto Alonso and Edward Clug.

Carmen: Impetuous Carmen seduces Don José in order to convince him to let her out of jail. Once outside, she thinks she’s finally free before realizing that she’s in fact prisoner of a love triangle: she wants to be with the famous Torero Escamillo, but she can’t make Don José go away.

Petruska: At Saint-Petersburg’s carnival, three puppets are playing the same role over and over: the unhappy lover Petrushka, the coquette and a Moor. Fed up with this endless part that never goes well for him, Petrushka attacks his rival and flees from the puppets theater.

Bolshoi Ballet: The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, was founded in 1776 and to this day remains a spearhead of Russian culture as one of the largest and most celebrated ballet companies in the world. For the 8th consecutive season, the Bolshoi Ballet opens its doors to viewers across the world to attend their outstanding performances in more than 1,700 cinemas internationally.
