Groundhog Day Prognostication & Drink to World Peace

Join us for Groundhog Day’s main event as hundreds brave the weather to gather on the Woodstock Square and see Woodstock Willie emerge from his tree trunk home. If he sees his shadow, it means there will be six more weeks of winter and if he doesn’t, it means we’ll have an early Spring.

To wake Woodstock Willie from his winter nap, there will be a Polka band playing in the bandstand on the Square. This is our re-enactment of the Groundhog Day ceremony that as a weatherman, Bill Murray reported on; over and over again. That scene from the movie was filmed right here on the Woodstock Square! This event will feature Stephen Tobolowski, the actor who portrayed Ned Ryerson in Groundhog Day.

Following the prognostication, head over to the bar where Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell ‘Drink to World Peace’ in the movie. The Public House on the ground floor of the Old Courthouse is the place to gather after the big ceremony in the park. Drink to World Peace and receive a souvenir shot glass!
