Songwriter Open Mic (June 1)

A Place to Shine Music and Off Square Music have teamed up to produce an evening of original work by local and regional songwriters, poets and storytellers on the first Thursday of every month at the Stage Left Café. Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown (June 2)

Woodstock, Illinois

Formed in London in 1965 by guitarist Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown is a UK version of a Chicago blues band. Their first album Shakedown in 1967 on Decca records was one of the major UK releases that helped spark the British Blues Boom.  Later albums such as Hellbound Train on London records in the 1970’s cracked the Billboard Top 40 charts making Savoy Brown one of the very few blues rock bands ever to have such commercial success.  Recent albums such as Voodoo Moon, Songs From The Road, Goin’ To The Delta, and their latest, The Devil To Pay, still top the sales for Blues albums and have made them one of the longest, continuously running blues/rock bands in the world today. Preserving Fruit: Advanced (June 10)

Learn how to make two kinds of jelly in this hands-on two-hour class. We will review how to prepare the fruit, cook the jelly in order to get a perfect set, and then water bath can it in order to make it shelf stable. We'll also review how to trouble shoot problems (such as runny jelly or unsealed jars), how to store the jelly and recipe ideas for using it in cooking. Autumn Drive (October 20-22)

Local farms are offering fall produce like pumpkins, honey, jams, soaps, and vinegars, as well as “tastefully simple” products. Experience tractor rides, petting zoos, hay rides, and even pumpkin and apple launchers. Pick your own apples right from the trees or pumpkins in the fields. Many stops include visiting crafters selling: pottery, jewelry, lawn ornaments, and dozens of other crafts. Some stops are mini craft fairs in themselves. Antique dealers are selling refurbished furniture, trunks, cook books, tools, white elephants, and vintage jewelry. Lighting of the Square (November 24)

Come out to the beautiful, historic Square on the Friday after Thanksgiving when Christmas officially comes to Woodstock as a flip of the switch illuminates tens of thousands of lights on the Park trees and the Square buildings.  While the lighting itself takes place at 7:00PM in the Park-in-the-Square, there are many wonderful holiday activities planned, including holiday carolers, street musicians, holiday sweets and favors, and special goodies and displays in the Square shops and restaurants.  Enjoy caroling too, plus Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available in their Square home that evening to greet children and even pose for pictures.  Learn More
